#SF40 Feb 15-16, 2015

January 31, 2015

This is the year of the 40th running of the Boston Science Fiction Marathon. Quite the milestone. 2 weeks and counting, and it’s time to start prepping.

This year our party has grown by 2 more, as the boyfriend of one of our neighbors, and his son, are joining us. That brings our total to 8, unless I recruit more attendees.

Here is the current list of movies, although we don’t have times yet. As always, a mix of old and new, some I’ve seen, sometimes multiple times, and some I haven’t.

THE ‘THON
2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (1968) WITH DOUGLAS TRUMBULL
THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI (1920)
BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA (1986)
DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (1951)
    MOONRAKER (1979)
    SNOWPIERCER (2013)
    THIS ISLAND EARTH (1955)
    THEM! (1954)
    THE IRON GIANT (1999)
    EDGE OF TOMORROW (2014)
    RAGNAROK (2014)

There are also nightly science fiction movies playing each night of the week leading up to the Thon, as part of the broader Boston Science Fiction Festival at the same locale, the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square, Somerville, MA. I hope at some point in the future to take in some of these, as there are usually premieres, and most are not part of the Thon.

If you want to follow my blogging of this years Thon, watch for the #SF40 hashtag in my Twitter feeds, or pay attention to this site. As with past years, I plan to blog about each movie, and probably other events, so don’t be surprised by a Twitter storm during that 24 hour period.
